Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, Hicks rose to national prominence after winning American Idol.  His recent single “Porch Swing,” which marries country and soul influences and draws comparisons to the work of artists like Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers, underscores his evolution as a songwriter committed to authenticity and genre-blending artistry.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear the stories behind the songs from two of America’s most gifted songwriting performers presented in OWA’s state-of-the-art concert venue perfect for the intimate “Songs & Stories” experience. Together, these performances underscore the festival and theater’s mission to bring listeners into the heart of the creative process, as songwriters tell their own stories and deliver their own songs in richly personal settings.
