Let the Good Times Roll – It’s Mardi Gras Season at OWA

February 15, 2023

Celebrate the Mardi Gras season at OWA with events the whole family will enjoy. Grab your masks and beads and let the good times roll with a fully decked-out float parade, Krewe du Kidz Walking Parade, Puppy Gras Parade, and a Totally 80’s After Party at the OWA Theater.

The fun begins on February 11 with the 2nd annual Krewe Du Kidz parade through Downtown OWA. Join the action and be a part of this walking and non-motorized vehicle parade. Registration begins at 1 p.m. with the parade starting at 2:30 p.m. Pre-register for a random drawing of Kidz King and Queen, which will be announced via Facebook Live on Thursday, February 9. Enjoy the afterparty featuring DJ Patrick on the OWA Island immediately following the parade until 4 p.m. There will be music, face painting, balloon animals, and lawn games.

On February 18, bring your pet dressed in their Mardi Gras best for the Puppy Gras Parade. Register your pet in the pet parade and costume contest with cash prizes given for OWA Choice, Puppy Gras King, Puppy Gras Queen, Funniest, and Most Festive. Registration begins at 1 p.m. with the parade starting at 2:30 p.m.

The fun continues Joe Cain Day, February 19, with a Mardi Gras parade and party. The celebration begins at 2 p.m. with live music and fun kid’s activities. Starting at 6 p.m., floats travel the streets of Downtown OWA while partygoers line the sidewalks to celebrate. Stick around after the parade for even more Mardi Gras fun and live music at the OWA Theater. Keep the party going into the night with the M-80’s who bring the fun to rock the crowd with the best music from the 80’s.

If you are an organization looking to participate in the OWA Parade, we invite you to apply and participate in the fun, by registering here.
