OWA introduces two new parades and the return of a crowd favorite
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Foley, Alabama) – Good times are ahead as Mardi Gras returns to OWA Parks & Resort and the events are bigger and better than ever. The Gulf Coast’s largest entertainment destination has been transformed into a reveler’s paradise with three exciting parades sure to get all ages in the Mardi Gras spirit. OWA is proud to introduce two new family-friendly parades and celebrate the return of the 3rd annual Mardi Gras Parade & Party in collaboration with Krewe du Cirque.
Kicking off the festivities is the Krewe Du Kidz parade on February 19. This walking and non-motorized vehicle parade for kids will begin on OWA Island at 2:30pm. Participants are encouraged to dress in their Mardi Gras best, bring their own throws, and pre-decorated non-motorized wagons and scooters. Be sure to stick around for the Krewe Du Kidz after-party featuring live music from DJ Patrick, kid’s crafts, hula hoops, bubbles, and more! Interested participants will need to register prior to the parade. Pre-registration is available online for a discounted rate of $10, or $15 the day of the event.
No holiday celebration would be complete without our furry friends, so bring them with you to OWA for the inaugural Puppy Gras Pet Parade on February 26. This family-friendly pet parade begins at 2:30pm on OWA Island with a pet-friendly costume contest immediately to follow on the OWA Island stage. Cash prizes will be given for Puppy Gras King & Queen, OWA Choice, Funniest, and Most Festive costume! Be sure to pre-register your pups online today for a discounted rate of $10, or $15 the day of the event. All pups must be registered prior to the parade and costume contest.
In an epic conclusion to the OWA Mardi Gras season, be sure to join us for our 3rd annual Mardi Gras Parade & Party featuring Krewe du Cirque. The celebration begins at 2pm with complimentary activities including live concerts on OWA Island by Troy Laz Band and Doctor Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster, kid’s activities, face painting, photo booth, and a walking parade. The parade kicks off at 6pm with an extended route and will travel through Downtown OWA twice! The good times continue after the parade with live music on OWA Island until 8pm.
All Mardi Gras festivities are complimentary to attend and open to the public. Registration fees are required for those who wish to participate in the Krewe du Kidz and Puppy Gras parades. Additional information on times, locations, schedules, and performers can be found on VisitOWA.com.

About OWA Parks & Resort: Award-winning OWA Parks & Resort in Coastal Alabama is owned and operated by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. OWA’s name is derived from a Creek word for “big water,” and the tropical theme of the 520-acre property was inspired by the Gulf of Mexico, minutes away via the Foley Beach Express.
At the heart of OWA is Tropic Falls, which includes a 23-ride theme park, outdoor wave pool and the region’s largest indoor water park—bigger than a football field and covered by a convertible roof. Just outside the ticketed areas is Downtown OWA. This pedestrian-only streetscape was inspired by Southern small towns and features numerous options for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
The destination resort offers a full calendar of events, from Downtown OWA’s own Mardi Gras Parade to the annual Christmas tree lighting with fireworks and snowfall. With its own award-winning TownePlace Suites by Marriott, OWA is the place in Coastal Alabama to thrill, then chill.
