Community Safety Day is coming to Downtown OWA on August 22nd, and it’s all about celebrating the people and organizations that keep our community safe and strong!

Spend the day meeting local first responders from across the area, watching K-9 training demonstrations, and enjoying a live DJ on OWA Island. Don’t miss the Heroes Hunger Games, where first responders go head-to-head in friendly competition.

Join us for a fun, feel-good day for families, friends, and neighbors to come together and show appreciation for the heroes among us!

Calling all first responders! Register your department for the Heroes Hunger Games, a fast-paced challenge where teams race to finish a sub sandwich, milkshake, pretzel, and large soda before suiting up in full gear. Winning departments take home a station banner, a trophy, park tickets, and bragging rights.

Schedule of Events
  • 2:00 – 6:00 pm:
    • Live DJ on the OWA Island Stage
    • Local First Responders throughout Downtown OWA
    • Kids Play Zone at the Splashpad
    • Inflatable Waterslide at the Native Treasure Alcove
    • Tuki roaming throughout Downtown OWA
  • 3:00 – 3:15 pm, 4:00 – 4:15 pm, 5:00 – 5:15 pm: Storybook reading in TU20
  • 3:00 – 3:45 pm, 4:00 – 4:45 pm, 5:00 – 5:45 pm: K-9 Dog Training on OWA Island
  • 2:30 – 3:45 pm: Heros Hunger Games registration on OWA Island
  • 4:00 – 5:00 pm: Heros Hunger Games on the OWA Island Stage
