About Mary Ryan Brown
A Southern writer and comedian with a background in literature and branding, Mary Ryan Brown’s distinct voice and daring stage presence make her a unique player in the comedy world. She creates unforgettable characters and satire on social media. She performs well-written standup and improvisational crowd work at venues across the country. She mocks and celebrates the cultural carnival of the Deep South by creating patterns, then disrupting them, to the surprise and delight of her audience.
Mary Ryan began writing and performing standup comedy in 2022, after a bout of postpartum depression sent her into a spiral of artistic renewal. In 2024, she began posting satirical caricatures of Southern women on Instagram. In these first years of her comedy career, Mary Ryan has shot a forthcoming Dry Bar Comedy special, performed on the Nateland Showcase, headlined several sold-out shows, opened for national headliners, and more. With a growing online presence, a loyal audience, and a dogged willingness to work, Mary Ryan Brown is a one-of-a-kind creative ally.
