Let’s go for a shop n’ stroll

Tired of going for a walk in the same neighborhood? Come visit our streets instead. Downtown OWA has plenty of walkable streets, bridges and an island to enjoy some sun while practicing social distancing. Did you know we’re also pet-friendly? We know those pups are feeling the effects of cabin fever just like we are, so let’s grab that leash and take man’s best friend on a W-A-L-K… Their favorite word!

Hey OWA Fans,

As we all stay home and stay healthy, OWA is working to bring some smiles into your living room. From Easter to education, our team is doing everything we can to bring a little fun to your time at home.

Community Easter

To our community near and far, this goes out to you. To the ones offering their livelihood to help preserve our safety, we thank you. To the ones volunteering their time and resources to help those in need, we see you. To the ones missing their loved ones and lighthearted times, we’re with you.

Every Spring we invite our guests to enjoy Easter with us at OWA. We have Mr. and Mrs. Bunny, adorable animals, and a big egg hunt with thousands of hidden surprises.  During this unprecedented time, we are truly saddened we weren’t able to see everyone’s smiling faces at OWA this Easter, but we were very happy to donate our thousands of Easter eggs to our community’s YMCA.

Foley’s local YMCA (Snook Family Foundation) has been giving back to our amazing community by offering child care for essential workers each day at their facility, providing food, drinks, and a safe place for kids to spend their time. In an effort to assist their efforts, our OWA team was able to stop by and donate nearly 4,000 eggs for their team to share with local families who might have needed a little assistance to pull of egg hunts of their own at home.

We hope everyone had a happy Easter—from our family to yours.

Learn more about their program HERE.

Education in Motion: From home!

Normally only offered to schools for day-long field trips, OWA is bringing our entire Education in Motion program straight to your living room! Learning can be tough right now and finding the right programs can be tricky… So why not throw some roller coasters in there, too? Our awesome Special Events Team put together the below video that teaches us about Newton’s Three Laws of Physics. Keep reading for more!

If you want this awesome information in more detail, click the button to download Newton’s Three Laws and print it off at home.

If it’s even possible, we have more learning opportunities for you! The button below will take you to OWA’s entire Education in Motion workbook. Not all of the questions can be answered since we’re at home currently, but let’s solve that by getting creative! One example is that we can’t see the menu and prices at The Park’s Shady Arbor food window, so let’s make our own! Grab some paper and markers, and let’s make our own menu board. What snacks will you put on your menu?

Fan of the Week Continues!

Have you been following our Fan of the Week photo contest? Each week we announce a new theme and giveaway two (2) season passes to the amusement park to the winner! Our most recent theme was “holidays at OWA.” We asked our guests to submit any photos they had that showcased a holiday—from decorations to events to holiday-themed outfits, we had tons of memories shared with us. Check out a few below, along with our winner (voted on by our Facebook fans) Kirsten P. from Roberstdale, Alabama!

It’s so easy to enter and you could win by visiting our Facebook page here. This week’s theme is photos of OWA’s fountains! We have so many throughout our property, and we want to see how you capture their beauty!

Be a fan of the week!

Do you need some quiet space? We can help.

Whether you’re working from home or just getting home from a frontline shift, if you need a quiet space to go for a while, OWA’s Marriott TownePlace Suites wants to help. We’re happy to assist you by providing the necessary space to knock out your deadlines or get some rest in a safe and clean environment during this time. Right now, you can reserve 9 hours of quiet work space in one of our rooms for only $39 (excluding taxes/fees). Call 251-581-9222 to book or with any questions.

We want to take this time and thank our community, its leaders and residents for the amazing way we’re coming together to support each other. We will continue to post updates regarding OWA’s operations as they become available.

Hey OWA Fans,

It’s time for our awesome team to share what we have been up to recently. With everything happening in the world around us, we wanted to take some time and share some positive steps we’re taking to assist our community and help our guests, local residents and fans find a sense of normalcy.

Fan of the Week Photo

In case you didn’t hear, OWA’s Facebook page is bringing back the Fan of the Week photo contest. During this time at home, let’s take a moment to remember all the fun times we’ve had at OWA. We know you have some awesome pictures from your visits and we want to see them!

Each week the contest will have a different theme, so you will always have a new chance to enter and win… Winners gets 2 season passes to The Park and will be up on OWA’s billboards for next week. All you have to do is check our Facebook page for the theme each week (this week is holiday memories!) and submit your photos HERE.

Last week’s theme was Park Fun, so check out our winner—Deidra Wallace–below with her awesome shot at Wacky Waters splash pad.

We’re going to need more Crayons…

In addition to Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen sharing a cool coloring page for you to do at home, OWA is also providing some fun activities for guests. This week we have a coloring page for the Rollin’ Thunder where you can change our iconic blue track to any color you want! Does pink suit the Thunder better? Additionally, we’re sharing all of our jaw-dropping POV videos of rides, so you can preview the drops and spins them out before returning to The Park. Get a sneak peek of this week’s ride below.

Education in (virtual) Motion</h4?

Every year, OWA hosts Education in Motion field trip days. Schools have the chance to come out to The Park and learn about the physics and science behind many of our amusement park rides from the mechanics and builders themselves. It’s a great way to promote learning and fun all in one day. With schools turning to virtual learning for the remainder of the 2020 school year, OWA wanted to help out, as well. We will miss all the smiling faces at Education in Motion this year, but have decided to bring the learning to you… right at home!

Be on the lookout next week as we bring you a digital version of OWA’s Education in Motion with videos and downloadable packets for free. Let’s never stop learning!

State of OWA

As of right now, The Park and OWA’s facilities are suspending operations until further notice. All updates regarding operations and official statements can be found at the button below. Questions or comments for us? Let us know here.

Hey OWA Fans,

With the ever-evolving situation at hand, our team wanted to take a moment and let our guests, visitors, and local community know what we are up to at OWA. From helping out in-person (while practicing social distancing) to creating fun opportunities for our fans to learn more about us on the online world, we want our community to know that OWA is still here to help during this time.

Lending a helping hand

Recently, our Team Members had the chance to donate food from OWA and Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen to local first responder and community support organizations during this difficult time.

While keeping best health practices and social distancing, our amazing Team was able to provide hot lunches and snacks to more than 150 members of our community at the Foley Fire Department, Ecumenical Ministries of Baldwin County, MedStar, and the Baldwin County Emergency Management Association. It was an easy way for us to say “Thank You”! We are all so grateful for our local essential personnel on the front lines.

Getting cabin fever?

Taking it to the online world, we are also sharing fun point-of-view videos of The Park’s rides. Since it’s in our best interest to stay inside and stay safe, we are trying to bring the fun of The Park to your home!

For our first Park experience, you can find the full Mystic Mansion ride! It’s our first indoor, dark ride and is full of spookily fun surprises, as well as targets for you to blast throughout. This week’s challenge is to find all the light-up targets in Mystic Mansion… or at least more than everyone else in your house! Click the video below and ride along with us inside Mystic Mansion. Stay tuned for next week’s ride and the answer on how many targets are really in Mystic Mansion, coming soon!

Are you an OWA SuperFan? Let’s find out!

Our Fan of the Week social contest will be returning next week on @VisitOWA’s Facebook page. Starting April 5, you’ll have the chance to win a pair of Season Passes and have your smiling face on OWA’s billboards in the area. The Fan of the Week photo contest will have a new theme each week, and all you have to do is submit your photo entry here. Be on the lookout for the announcement of next week’s theme. You could win!

Grab your Crayons!

Normally offered once you’re seated in the restaurant, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen at OWA has a fun activity for you to do while inside. If you like Tic Tac Toe, word searches and coloring, then this activity sheet is for you! Their awesome team has resized the OWA inspired activity sheet for Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen  so that you can easily download and print it off at home. Once you finish all the games and coloring, take a photo and share it with us on Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen’s Facebook page here. We’d love to see your creative twist!
