OWA Celebrates Memorial Day with a Weekend Long Celebration Live Music, Fireworks, and Activities for the Whole Family

May 25, 2023

Wear your red, white, and blue and join OWA as we honor our nation’s veterans and celebrate Memorial Day with a weekend full of fun, entertainment, and patriotism. Our festivities begin on Friday, May 26, at 4 pm as we kick off summer vacation with a foam truck party, historical scavengers hunt, lawn games, and more! Plus, Tropic Falls will be hosting a *Dive-In Movie Night from 6-8 pm at Big Water Bay, with a screening of Moana on the massive 48-foot LED Screen. (*Tropic Falls General Admission is required.)

The fun continues on Saturday at 2 pm, with kids’ activities and performances by street dancers, followed by Lawn Games at 4 pm, all in Downtown OWA. Live music will kick off at 5 pm with The Defrosters, followed by the Velcro Pygmies at 7 pm on OWA Island. Then, plan to grab your favorite spot and enjoy the fireworks show beginning at 8:50 pm!

On Sunday, check out the No Shoes Radio After Tour Party at Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant in Downtown OWA. The Blue Chair Bay bus will stop by from 12-2 pm with No Shoes Radio personalities on site for fun bar games and a chance to win giveaways from Kenny Chesney’s No Shoes Radio. The No Shoes Radio personalities will also be available for photo ops, and Lucy’s will have cocktail specials. So, stop by for some fun and Blue Chair Bay swag!

Sunday fun will continue with more arts & crafts activities, including making an American Flag handprint t-shirt. Live music starts again at 5 pm on OWA Island with Meredith Hicks, followed by Wes Loper at 7 pm.

With the exception of the dive-in movie inside Tropic Falls, all Downtown OWA events are free to the public. Click here for more information and a complete list of weekend events..
