Directed by Robert Greenwald, Xanadu is a vibrant musical fantasy that follows Sonny Malone (Michael Beck), a frustrated artist in Los Angeles who encounters Kira (Olivia Newton-John), a mysterious woman who turns out to be Terpsichore, the Greek muse of dance. With her inspiration, Sonny teams up with former big-band leader Danny McGuire (Gene Kelly) to transform a dilapidated auditorium into the dazzling roller disco nightclub, Xanadu. Despite its initial critical reception, the film has achieved cult status over the years, celebrated for its unique blend of classic Hollywood musical elements and 1980s pop culture, as well as its memorable soundtrack featuring hits like “Magic” and the title track “Xanadu” performed by Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra.
